Appleton, Wis.(WFRV)--On February 5, 2013 at 2:23 AM, the Appleton Police Department responded to a burglary being reported at a home in the 1600 block of N. Morrison Street.  The homeowner told officers that they had been sleeping when they awoke to noises being made by a subject trying to remove a TV from the residence.  The subject fled the house when confronted by the homeowner.  The homeowner reported to officers that a cell phone was missing.

Appleton Police Department officers, with the assistance of the Outagamie County Sheriff's Department K9 unit, tracked shoe prints leading away from the residence.  The tracking led officers to a residence in the 1500 block of N. Oneida Street.

Appleton officers made contact with a number of individuals at the residence on N. Oneida Street.  During the investigation at that residence, an officer rang the cell phone number of the victim.  The phone rang in the pocket of a coat.  Officers took Horace J. Fields (06/09/72) into custody as a result of the investigation.  He is currently confined at the Outagamie County Jail on a probation hold.  Additional charges are forthcoming.
