GREEN BAY, Wisc. (WFRV) Pope Benedict will officially give up the Papacy on February 28th.

Benedict announced his resignation early today. He told the Cardinals of the Catholic Church that he was resigning because of advanced age.

"Strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me."

Local 5 spoke with those going to mass this morning at St. Agnes in Green Bay. They say they're surprised by the announcement.

It's now up to the Cardinals to find a successor.
