GREEN BAY (WFRV) In between Ash Wednesday services. a dozen people gathered to help couples deal with unintended pregnancies.

"Hear us as we weep for those afflicted by the sorrows of abortion," was the plea of a prayer at Baird Park.

That kicked off the the local effort of "40-Days of life". One of 261 nationwide events. The pro life supporters will walk and pray outside the medical arts building on webster avenune in green bay. It's all in hopes of changing hearts and minds about abortion.

"Human life isn't recognized as a gift, as sacred. It's something that's viewed as a commodity. And we think a lot of people are pressured to thing that way. A lot of women regret having abortions," said  Rev. Peter Speckhardt, Senior Pastor at Faith Lutheran Church.

Marchers will keep vigil outside the build through March 22.

Women are able to learn about alternatives to abortion year round through a volunteer clinic in the Fox Cities. "WomanKind" in Appleton offers counseling and pregnancy services to women in need.

The clinic is staffed by medical professionals who assess each womans needs...Without outside influence from those who may favor terminating a pregnancy.

"We do talk to her about the option of adoption. It is another way of parenting her child whether it's directly or indirectly. So again we're presenting all of the options that she does have," said Jody Narvett, a registered nurse at the clinic.

And all patient information at "WomanKind" is kept confidential.
