Door County teen killed in snowmobile crash

Sturgeon Bay, Wis.(WFRV)--A 13 year old Door County boy was killed today when the snowmobile he was driving was hit by a truck on County Trunk Highway C near Swamp Road in the Township of Brussels.

 Door County Sheriff's officials say the boy, from the Brussels area, was taken to a Green Bay hospital for his injuries, but doctors were unable to save him.

Sheriff's officials tell us the 
13 year old was driving alone on a snowmobile about 4:30 Friday afternoon. He was heading east on a designated snowmobile trail, and stopped before crossing CTH C. As he attempted to cross the highway, he was hit by a truck heading north driven by a 47 year old Brussels man. The truck driver was not hurt.


Assisting at the scene was the BUG Fire Department, South County Rescue, Door County EMS, and the Brussels/Union First Responders.

 

The accident is still under investigation and details will be released at a later date.
