GREEN BAY, Wis (WFRV) The Brown County Human Services Committee could not agree on the best next steps for a low-frequency sound ordinance at a meeting Tuesday.

Residents in southern Brown County say low frequency sound, primarily from wind turbines, is giving them health problems.

The county wants to spend $4,000 to contract an acoustician to research the problem and draft an ordiance to regulate it.

However, the committee could not agree on where the money should come from to pay for it.

"I wish the committee would have taken action, however, we will bring it back at the next county board meeting and debate it again," says Brown County Supervisor Brad Hopp of District 5.

"Without this ordinance, we have no protection for the citizens of Brown County," says resident Ben Shauer, who lives half a mile from a wind turbine.

The request for money failed on a tie vote. It will go before the board of supervisors next month.
