Campbellsport, Wis. (WFRV) - The community of Campbellsport is grieving after the death of a respected school leader.

The associate principal and athletic director at Campbellsport High School was killed Sunday in a crash  in Fond du Lac County.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department, Lance Beyer died at the scene of the accident which happened near the intersection of County Highway Q and County Highway G at 4:35 p.m..

Local 5 spoke with school leaders who say Beyer had a profound impact on the school and wider community.

District Administrator Dan Olson tells Local 5 Beyer was a student centered educator. He worked as a coach and teacher before taking a job in administration.

The school has dealt with a lot of loss in the past year. A total of four students died in 2012 in two separate crashes.  Beyer played a major role in helping students deal with the loss of their classmates.

Now, counselors are on hand today for both students and staff coping with Beyer's death.

Speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident. Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the other vehicle, Katie Daane, 31, of Kiel, was flown by helicopter to Theda Clark Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Her two children, ages 2 and 4, were transported by ambulance to Theda Clark.

A letter is posted on the district's website explaining the situation to parents.

Funeral arrangements are in the works and will also be posed on the school website.

Local 5's Millaine Wells is in Campbellsport talking with students. She will have reaction for us tonight.
