KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WFRV) - No one was hurt after a fire damaged a duplex in the City of Kaukauna.

It happened just after 2:30 Monday afternoon at 112 Island st. in Kaukauna.

The Kaukauna Fire Department says the fire started in the basement and worked its way through the building.

No one was home at the time of the fire.  4 pets were inside the duplex at the time but all were rescued safely.

Firefighters say the fire is electrical in nature, and the age of the building hindered firefighting .  The Red Cross has been called in to assist the residents of the building.
