MT MORRIS, Wis. (WFRV) Officials in Waushara County are investigating a homicide in the small town of Mt. Morris.  50 year old Robert Kasun was found dead in a motel room on CTH G at Highway 152.

The Waushara County Deputy Coroner tells Local 5 the death is suspicious and is currently being investigated as a homicide.

Tuesday night, Mt. Morris Motel owner Ken Lange noticed the door to room number 4 wide open.  "I walked in there and saw [Kasun] laying there on his stomach.  I didn't think much of it because of the beer cans around - just thought he was passed out or something."

Kasun moved in to the unit last weekend.  Wednesday morning, a friend arrived to help Kasun unpack and it was apparent Kasun was dead.  "I don't get involved in any of that stuff," said Lange.  "I just closed the door and was going to talk to him the next morning about wasting energy."

Those living in near-by rooms were shocked.  Matthew Bishop lives just a few feet away from the crime scene.  He told us, "It's the first time I've ever heard or seen anything that happened around here."

But neighbors across the street tell a different story.  They say this property has been a nuisance for years.  Paul Gunderson said, "I keep my doors locked, keep a couple of guns in the house."  Gunderson says he sees police at the motel constantly.  He says some of the permanent residents here are drug dealers, pedophiles and alcoholics.  "There are a lot of strange things.  I've seen people running out into the street naked and drunk before."

At least one resident has decided to move out because of round-the-clock police presence during the investigation.  Lange added, "I hope they've got justifiable reasons to be doing what they're doing.  It's going to cause me to lose a lot of business."

We're still waiting on autopsy results.  So far, no arrests have been made.  According to court records, Kasun has a history of disorderly conduct, battery and operating a firearm while intoxicated.
