TJ Lang Signs Contract Extension

Green Bay left tackle, Marshall Newhouse suffered a concussion at the Packers Family Night Scrimmage and his absence from the line during his recovery showed just how important it is to have consistency in the trenches.

The Packers front office made a move late last night to ensure longevity of their line, signing left guard TJ Lang to a contract extension. "It's a great accomplishment for me so far and I'm just honored that the coaches and everyone upstairs view me as a core player. I've worked hard to get where I am right now so it's good to see that the work has paid off," Lang said today.  His offensive line Coach James Campen says the extension is well deserved, "I'm proud of the way that he's developed the last couple of years and going back to last off season, putting in a lot of work and a lot of time getting prepared for the opportunity to win that spot at left guard last year and real happy for him, and of course for us."

The left guard is a fourth-year player out of Eastern Michigan and is one of only two Green Bay offensive linemen to start all 16 games last season. And it's Lang's versatility that makes him so attractive, he's started games at three different positions during his tenure in the league. Head Coach Mike McCarthy says Lang could even play center if the Packers needed him too.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Lang's deal is worth $20.8 million dollars in new money and he will receive a $5.5 million dollar signing bonus.
