Updated: April 9, 2012

The Cubs made things interesting in the 9th, but the Brewers hung on for a 7-5 victory at Wrigley Field on Monday night.

With the win, the Brewers improved to 2-2 on the young 2012 season.  Shaun Marcum (1-0) was the winning pitcher, going 6 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits, walking none and striking out six.

Rickie Weeks hit a third inning homer for Milwaukee, while Mat Gamel was 2-4, with a go-ahead RBI triple in the sixth.

Milwaukee entered the bottom of the ninth with a 7-3 lead, but a pair of hits, a walk, and an Aramis Ramirez error helped the Cubs score two runs and load the bases with two out.  But John Axford struck out Starlin Castro to end the game and pick up his first save of 2012.

The Brewers and Cubs will continue their four-game series Tuesday night at Wrigley Field at 7:05 P.M.
