Kemp out of All-Star Game, Ryan Braun to start

By: Nick Goddard
Updated: July 3, 2012

Despite not being voted in, Ryan Braun will make another start in the MLB All-Star Game after all.

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp, who has been on the disabled list since late May with a hamstring injury, officially pulled out of the July 10th contest on Tuesday.  Braun, who was voted as a reserve by his fellow players, will start in his place.

40 year-old Chipper Jones of the Atlanta Braves, in his final season, will take Kemp's roster spot on the National League team.  Jones had been a candidate for the NL's "Final Vote."

Braun is the only Brewers player who will take part in the All-Star Game, which will take place at Kaufmann Stadium in Kansas City.
