Appleton Police Shoot Armed Man

Appleton, WI (WFRV) - Appleton Police report that a man armed with a handgun was shot by an Appleton Police officer investigating a suspicious incident.

 

 According to a press release by the Appleton Police Department, the incident began with a citizen's call for an officer to a resident on East Spring Street on Friday, August 10th shortly after 9:00 p.m.  The officer encountered an armed man and the officer was forced to fire his duty weapon to stop the threat.

 

 The suspect died at the scene after being shot.  Detectives from the Green Bay Police Department are presently conducting the investigation into the shooting.

 

Appleton Police will provide more details on this fatal shooting in a press conference Saturday afternoon.
