Brewers' Gamel tears ACL again, will miss 2013 season

Mat Gamel, who was set to fill in for Corey Hart as Brewers' first baseman, has torn the ACL in his right knee once again, and will miss the entire 2013 season.

Gamel entered the 2012 campaign as Milwaukee's starter at first base, but suffered his first ACL tear in early May chasing a foul ball in a game in San Diego.

Hart will miss at least the first month of the regular season after having his own knee surgery.

Spring Training is underway for the Brewers, and contenders for the first baseman job include Taylor Green, Alex Gonzalez, or perhaps top prospect Hunter Morris, who hasn't played above Double-A.
