ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WFRV) - The rush at Green Bay Distillery in the stadium district tends to cool off a bit during the Packers off season. But news of WIAA girls basketball coming just a block away next March has managers excited.
"We're in a great location as well as the whole stadium district," said General Manager Mike McNerney. "Green Bay will be very excited to bring all those people into this area."
"We're very excited and look forward to welcoming them here next year," said Brad Toll, Executive Director of the Greater Green Bay Visitor and Convention Bureau.
Toll is anticipating a $3 million shot to the local economy for each year the tournament hits the hardwood at the Resch Center. He's hoping, if all goes well initially, the two year contract could be extended.
"We'll start working now with the hospitality community to look at things we can do to step it up and make certain they feel that Green Bay hospitality," explained Toll. "We certainly expect they would want to come back in 2016, 2017 and well beyond."
"To have something like this, it's really going to boost the economy," added McNerney.
