University of Virginia recruit Anthony Butler had 3 hits to lead Sun Prairie past Appleton North on Tuesday afternoon in a WIAA Division 1 State Baseball quarterfinal at Fox Cities Stadium.

An RBI double in the first from Butler gave the Cardinals (29-1) the lead.  Down 2-0 in the bottom of the first, Appleton North lead-off hitter Clark Eagen smashed the first pitch he saw over the right-field wall for a solo home run to pull the Lightning within one.

Sun Prairie then scored four runs off North starting pitcher Grant Yost in the top of the third inning to take a 6-1 lead.  The Lightning scored on an error in the bottom of the third, then pushed a pair of runs accross in the fifth to pull within two.

It was still a 6-4 game in the bottom of the seventh.  With one out and Eagen on first, North's Jesus Cazares sent a bouncer to third base.  The Cardinals forced out Eagen at second, and Cazares was called out due to interference when Eagen slid late into second base, ending the game.

Appleton North finishes their season at 22-6.
