Girls State Basketball: New London Completes Perfect Season, Repeats as D-2 Champs

MADISON (WFRV) - In a showdown of unbeaten teams Saturday night, the New London Bulldogs defeated New Berlin Eisenhower 43-39 to win their second consecutive girls state basketball championship.

Both New London and New Berlin Eisenhower entered the game 27-0.  The Lions were led by Nicole Bauman, Wisconsin's "Miss Basketball" award winner, who has committed to play college ball at the University of Wisconsin.

New London senior Bridget Pethke guarded Bauman most of the contest, holding her to 4 points through 3 quarters (14 for the game.) and had 9 steals, setting a new Division 2 record.

The Bulldogs have won 42 consecutive games over the past 2 state championship seasons.
