Gamblers set USHL Record with 25th Road Win

Youngstown, Ohio (gamblershockey.com) - The Green Bay Gamblers have become the new record holder for having the most road wins in a season surpassing the 04-05 Cedar Rapids RoughRiders with a 7-1 win over the Youngstown Phantoms Friday night at the Covelli Center. The Gamblers also tied the the 98-99 Des Moines Buccaneers for most point's recorded in a season with 97.
The Chicago line added to their impressive scoring streak with a total of 33 goals in the last 18 games, scoring 3 goals in Friday night's contest. The Gamblers also scored 7 unanswered goals and scored 4 goals in the second period with the first 3 goals coming in the first 4 minutes.
Leading scorer Nolan LaPorte scored a pair of powerplay goals in the first and second periods, scoring his second goal at the 0:53 mark early in the second period. The Western Michigan recruit now has 36 goals on the season.
Alex Broadhurst scored in the first period on a 3 on 2 breakaway to tie the game 1-1. The Nebraska-Omaha recruit also has 11 assists in the last 6 games and scored his 26th goal overall.
Sheldon Dries scored in the second period and earned his 3rd goal in the last 3 games. The Western Michigan recruit scored his 19th goal this season.
Also scoring for the Gamblers, Peter Maric scoring his 4th on the season, Ville Jarvelainen scored his 9th, and Grigory Dikushin scored 6 goals overall.
Goalie Ryan McKay clinched the win between the pipes with 27 saves on 28 shots. The Miami of Ohio recruit now has a record of 27-5-3.
The Gamblers face the Phantoms in the last regular season game to finish up the two game weekend in Youngstown. Face off is set for 6:05 p.m.
