Packers LB Clay Matthews Will Not Play vs. Lions Sunday

By: Ryan Rodig
Updated: November 14, 2012
It may not have been a surprise, but Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy made it official on Wednesday.  Clay Matthews will not play against Detroit after injuring his hamstring against the Cardinals.

"The diagnosis was a couple of weeks," McCarthy said Wednesday.  "This is week two, so we'll see."

McCarthy says the team has been preparing to be without their top pass rusher this week.

Matthews leads Green Bay and is 5th overall in the NFL with 9 sacks.  For the season Matthews has totaled 31 tackles and one forced fumble in 2012.
