Brewers let one slip away

The Brewers battled the Cardinals on Monday night in what was a pitchers duel, until the 7th inning. Mike Fiers scattered four hits and had four strikeouts through seven scoreless innings of work for Milwaukee.  Lance Lynn was equally impressive for St. Louis going seven innings with ten strikeouts and just one run allowed, when Corey Hart hit his 17th home run of the year to give the Brewers a 1-0 lead into the 8th inning. Ryan Braun added what was expected to be an insurance run by smashing a triple to the wall in right center field that allowed Nori Aoki to score making it 2-0. But in the 9th inning, John Axford not only loaded up the bases, but gave up back to back hits allowing St. Louis to take a 3-2 lead.  Axford also gave up three walks with three errors in the loss.  Game 2 of the series is Tuesday night at Miller Park with Randy Wolf (2-6) facing Joe Kelly (1-1).
