UW-Oshkosh quarterback Nate Wara (Sr. Oshkosh) has been named a preseason NCAA Division III All-American by D3football.com. Wara, who has started all 30 games for the Titans the past three years, was voted to the second team.

Each of the last two years, Wara was an All-WIAC second team selection. Last season, he completed 142-of-234 passes (61 percent) for 1,838 yards and 18 touchdowns while rushing 140 times for a team-leading 650 yards and three scores.

In 2010, Wara connected on 195-of-295 attempts (66 percent) for 2,135 yards and 22 touchdowns while rushing 147 times for a team-high 555 yards and five scores. In 2009, Wara completed 175-of-266 passes (66 percent) for 1,597 yards and 10 touchdowns while running 109 times for 421 yards and five scores.

During his UW-Oshkosh career, Wara has completed 512-of-795 passes (64 percent) for 5,570 yards and 50 touchdowns. He has also carried the ball 396 times for 1,626 yards and 13 scores. Wara's career marks for passing yards and touchdown passes rank second in school history.

With his career passing efficiency of 139.7, Wara currently ranks fifth in WIAC history. He shined in both games against UW-Stout last season, throwing for 300 yards and five touchdowns in a 35-3 victory and passing for 172 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for a career-high 185 yards and two scores in a 56-10 triumph.

In 2010, Wara passed for 293 yards and five touchdowns in a 41-14 win over UW-Platteville and 246 yards and four touchdowns in a 43-15 victory over UW-River Falls. During 2009, he passed for a career-best 358 yards and three touchdowns in a 44-35 defeat to UW-Eau Claire.

D3football.com named 50 players to its preseason All-America squad, including first-team quarterback Garrett Meador of Wheaton College (Ill.). UW-Whitewater had wide receiver Tyler Huber, defensive end Loussaint Minett and cornerback Noah Timm selected to the second team, while UW-La Crosse had punter Christian Hallingstad picked to the first team.

UW-Oshkosh opens its 2012 season by hosting Central College (Iowa) on Sept. 1 at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
