"Did you watch that Monday Night Football game?" McCarthy said this week when asked about Johnson. "He still looks like a good runner to me."
Johnson showed off his signature speed on a 94 yard second quarter score against the Jets Monday night. He is one of only six running backs to ever record a 2,000 yard rushing season. With young quarterback Jake Locker under center, stopping Johnson has taken center-stage Sunday.
"You can hold him to 20-30 yards, and he will break a 90 yard touchdown run," defensive end Ryan Pickett said. "That's what makes him dangerous. You can never let up, sort of like AP (Adrian Peterson). You never have a down off."
"CJ2K" has the kind of speed that jumps off the screen.
"He's a sub-4.3 40 guy, he's fast as lightning," Brad Jones said. "He's one of the fastest backs out there."
"It's hard to contain him, period," adds defensive end Mike Neal. "He gets on the outside and he can get up the middle. You just have to be able to be gap sound, that's one of the biggest things. If everybody is in their gap, then we have a hat for a gap and we will be able to stop him."
Johnson currently ranks 7th in the NFL in rushing yards with 1,159, which is 26 more yards than all the backs on the Packers roster, combined. He also ranks 4th in the NFL in rushes of more than 20 yards and averages 4.8 yards per carry.
