By: Nick Goddard
Updated: November 24, 2012
DE PERE (St. Norbert Athletics) - St. Norbert College wasted little time in taking command and rolled to a 6-3 win over Lawrence University in the final game of the NCHA/MCHA Thanksgiving Classic at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (8-2-1) pumped in two goals in the first 1 minute 34 seconds of the game to take the early lead. Lawrence (2-6-1) fell to 0-32 all-time against the Green Knights.

St. Norbert jumped out front at 1:18 of the first when Tyler Zepeda took a pass in the slot from Joe Perry and buried the uncontested scoring chance. Cody Keefer scored just 16 seconds later on a hard drive from the right side.

The Green Knights went ahead 3-0 at 9:52 on a backhand by Kyle Stroh. Lawrence broke through with a goal from Steve Hughes at 11:10, but the Green Knights went ahead 4-1 on a power-play goal from Carl Ekstrom at 14:21.

St. Norbert scored the lone goal of the second period on a power-play marker by Stroh at 7:35 for a 5-1 edge after two periods.

Lawrence scored a couple of consolation goals late in the third period with markers from Renato Engler and Derek Brickan at 15:04 and 15:50 of the third period. Stroh netted a power-play goal at 16:33 for his second career hat trick.

Stroh finished with four points overall, adding an assist to his three goals. Keefer and Zepeda both had two assists to give them each three points.

St. Norbert killed off two major penalties in the game, one that bridged the first and second periods and one in the third period. The Green Knights were 3-for-6 on the power play, while the Vikings were 0-for-3.

Travis Bosch made 24 saves for St. Norbert, while Anton Olsson made 31 stops for Lawrence.
