Updated: February 28, 2013

DETROIT (greenbayphoenix.com) - The #21/23 Green Bay women's basketball team defeated rival Detroit 71-63 on the road Thursday night, clinching the Horizon League regular season title outright after clinching at least a share last Saturday. The win improved the Phoenix to 23-2 overall and a perfect 13-0 in Horizon League play, while Detroit fell to 14-11 and 7-6 in conference matchups.

For a second straight game, Green Bay was led by redshirt sophomore Megan Lukan (Barrie, Ontario) who scored a game-high 20 points with a remarkable 6-13 mark from downtown. Lukan missed all five of her attempts from long range in the first half, but made an incredible six of eight in the final 20 minutes. The sophomore standout scored a career-high 22 points against Valparaiso last Saturday.

As in the first meeting this season, the Phoenix kept Detroit's dominant post threat Shareeta Brown out of the picture, holding her to just nine points on 2-4 shooting in 29 minutes before she fouled out. The Titans held a 21-8 advantage in bench scoring while shooting 46.7 percent from the field.

Notes:

-Green Bay shot 15-36 (41.7 percent) from long range. The team's 15 made triples is tied for the second most in a game in program history, while 36 attempts ties for third.

-Megan Lukan's six three's ties for the third-most made in a game by an individual, while her 13 attempts are the most by a player in program history.

-The Phoenix snapped Detroit's 15-game home winning streak with tonight's win, and as a result Green Bay is now the only undefeated Horizon League team at home this season.

-Sarah Eichler finished with 12 points on a perfect 4-4 from long range while also adding six assists.

-Green Bay's winning streak is now at 18 games. The streak ranks as the fifth-longest regular season winning streak in program history.
