SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WFRV) Terry Van Akkeren, the challenger in today's historic Sheboygan recall election, says the city's image is so tainted that enough is enough. He feels he's the right man to move the city forward.
The drunken images of Mayor Bob Ryan, along with allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct, have brought nothing but distraction and controversy to Sheboygan.
"I've lived here my entire life and the last few years the city has gone in the wrong direction and we've had a bad image," Terry Van Akkeren states.
Van Akkeren believes misconduct has torn apart the city and now is the time to regroup under new leadership.
"We need to unite the Council, unite the citizens of Sheboygan. That's the way you get things done."
He feels his many years of service on the city's Common Council, County Board and State Assembly are what the city needs to get back on track.
"You're the face of Sheboygan. You're the one to come forward. People are going to see you and that's a big part of why it's going to be different this time."
A difference voters will decide when they cast their ballot.
