Cardinals Finish Sweep of Brewers

By: WFRVNEWS
Updated: September 2, 2011
The Milwaukee Brewers have been swept at Miller Park for the first time in the 2011 season, following an 8-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday at Miller Park.

Albert Pujols was 4-4 at the plate, crushing 2 home runs and driving in five against Brewers starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo.  Rafael Furcal and Matt Holliday also homered for St. Louis.

The Brewers drop to 81-57 on the season, but maintain a 7.5 game lead over the Cardinals in the National League Central Division.  The two teams meet once again in St. Louis next week.

Milwaukee begins a three game weekend series against the Houston Astros on Friday night in Texas.
