Brewer fans have been waiting for opening day ever since their playoff run last season to the NLCS. Unfortunately they played the Cardinals again with the same result.
Four different St. Louis players hit home runs off of starter Yovani Gallardo, and Milwaukee was never really able to dig out of the 6-2 hole they put themselves in by the 4th inning at Miller Park Friday.
David Freese hit a two-run homer while Yadier Molina, Carlos Beltran and Matt Holliday all had solo shots off Gallardo, en route to an 11-5 victory.
Gallardo (0-1) had control issues all game long and struggled lasting only 3 2/3 innings, giving up seven hits, six runs with five walks and only three strikeouts. Nick Goddard talked to the Brewers following the game.
