The reasons for the lay-offs is to help balance its budget for the 2012 -2013 school year.
District officials are cutting 20.4 teaching positions.
That means some class sizes will grow and teachers will have to pick up additional classes.
Maintenance employees are also expected to take a hit by losing two positions and requiring the rest to take pay cuts. The cuts came down Tuesday night during a school board meeting where members voted 4-to-1 for the cuts.
