Green Bay Women's Basketball #1 in county academically

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - For the second time in program history the Green Bay women's basketball team finished its season ranked No. 1 in the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll announced Tuesday. The Phoenix combined for a 3.616 team grade point average for the 2011-12 season, tallying the program's highest team GPA on record.
Green Bay is one of five top-25 teams on the Division I honor roll who played in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The 2011-12 season marks the program's 10th appearance on the honor roll and fifth sixth in the top 10. The last time the Phoenix ranked No 1 was during the 2000-2001 season when it combined for a 3.48 GPA. Green Bay was one of two Horizon League schools represented in the top 25 with Youngstown State finishing sixth with a 3.550 GPA.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 annually recognizes NCAA Divisions I, II and III; NAIA; and junior/community college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined grade point averages inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2011-12 season is the 17th in which the WBCA has produced the honor rolls.
