WAUSAU, Wis. (WFRV) - Thursday Mark Neumann will bring his campaign to Northeast Wisconsin.

He has stops planning in Fond du Lac, Appleton and De Pere.

Neumann is no stranger to Wisconsin politics.

He served four years in the House of Representatives starting in 1995, then ran unsuccessfully for the Senate in 1998.

Most recently Neumann opposed Scott Walker in 2010's Republican Primary for Governor.

"I think the most important  thing I can do is work to enact the conservative views that we believe in" says Neumann. "Balancing the budget by making the government smaller, shrinking spending and repealing "Obamacare", putting doctors back in control of medicine".

Healthcare reform highlights Mark Neumann's conservative agenda.

According to Neumann "Obamacare steps on many parts of our constitution and it also costs a fortune. It's the biggest single tax increase in the history of America".

Job creation is also critical for Neumann. He says his business roots would give him an advantage in the senate. Neumann grew a real estate company from his basement, to a multimillion dollar venture.

"We have created jobs in the private sector. I've got 30 years as a homebuilder proving jobs for roofers, plumbers, electricians all the folks involved".

His first order of business in the senate would be getting the country out of the red.

"Balancing the federal budget by cutting spending leaves more money in the pocket of the people and we will see an economic boom that will lead to many, many jobs created" he explains.

Neumann calls himself a proven conservative saying "When I was in the House of Representatives we balanced the budget, our economy boomed".

So what sets him apart from his competition?

"I have written a plan the balances the budget in five years. I've written 150 specific line items. Nobody else in the race has done that".

Neumann is a pro-life candidate and says marriage is between one man and one woman.

"If we can take control of the senate, we're conservatives and that means we can lead the fight on getting the conservative agenda of balancing the budget and repealing Obamacare".

Neumann's beliefs secured him an endorsement from the Tea Party Express and poll numbers show the race is tightening.

"We closed 17 points from the last time there was polling. We're on the upswing the momentum is with us".

Tomorrow night at 10:00 pm Local 5 continues our U.S. Senate candidate profiles with Eric Hovde.
