Sturgeon Spearing Season Opening

CALUMET COUNTY (WFRV) - It was a big day for hundreds of sportsmen hoping to spear a prehistoric animal. Opening day of Sturgeon Spearing Season brought some ups and downs for some. Spearers in the Upriver Lakes speared 140 sturgeon today and only 39 on Lake Winnebago. Because of the slow start to the season, DNR officials believe it could run the entire 16 days.
The sturgeon spearing season continues Sunday at 6:30 A.M. Local 5's Donald Robinson has details.
