Mike Austin
Mike Austin has been covering Agricultural news and events
for over 30 years in Northeastern Wisconsin. A graduate of UW- Madison, Austin
began his career in Northeastern Iowa before coming to the Fox River Valley in
1978. In 1980 Austin began doing agricultural reports on both radio and TV in
Green Bay and has been recognized by farm organizations and commodity groups
for his agricultural stories and features.
Be it a county fair, a day on the farm, a field demonstration. a farm tour or
some type of Ag related conference or seminar it's likely you'll find Austin
either covering, speaking or emceeing the event.
Austin says it is a privilege to cover the agricultural community on a daily
basis and is grateful to WFRV
for allowing him the opportunity to highlight Wisconsin agriculture and its
impact on all of us during the the noon news reports
Austin, a 30 year member of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting has
received numerous awards on the county, state and national level from various
farm organization and promotional groups.
He has been recognized here in Wisconsin by UW-Extension, The State Association
of Agricultural Educators, The Wisconsin FFA and 4-H Organizations, the State
Association of County Fairs and the Alice in Dairyland program.
Austin also is a recipient of the Associated Press Carol Brewer Award,
recognizing his career achievements in broadcasting.
Austin has also been an active member in his community, working with scouts,
youth leagues and the FFA . He is also active in his church and the Knights of
Columbus Mike says he is proud to be the father of his three adult children,
Matt, John & Kate. And of all his accomplishments he is most proud of being
the husband to his best friend Connie for the past 35 years.
