On Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at approximately 12:24 p.m. Oconto County Sheriff's Department 911 received a call in reference to a male subject in the water of Westcott Lake, Township of Bagley.
Upon arrival, it was learned that an 18-year-old male had been assisting a family member move a pontoon boat from a private residence to a boat landing.
The subject entered the water by himself, however, there were no witnesses nearby to verify when he entered the water.
When family members could not locate the 18-year-old, they called 911.
Brody Champagne of rural Pound was located by Town of Brazeau Dive Team, and had been in the water for approximately two hours.
The Sheriff's department was notified last night that Champagne had passed away.
Investigation is continuing pending results of the autopsy.
