There are more than a thousand transplant recipients-from all over the nation- competing at the 2010 National Kidney Foundation US Transplant Games in Madison, July 30-August 3. The Games are an olympic style event that showcase the success of transplantation- by having transplant recipients and living donors compete in sports.
One of the people responsible for bringing the games to Wisconsin knows well how life can be restored through donation and transplant.T
Trey Schwab was an assistant basketball coach for Marquette College- who helped lead his team to the Final Four - despite a severe illness. A short time later- in February of 2004 - he had a double lung transplant. He now works to promote organ donation and awareness throughout the state.
