The boat engine manufacturer Mercury Marine is bringing 200 new jobs to the state after getting $5 million in state incentives.
Mercury Marine originally planned to locate the 200 assembly jobs in Mexico, but Governor Jim Doyle said the state worked with the company to bring the jobs to Wisconsin instead.
Doyle said it shows that Wisconsin can compete with Mexico or any other location in the world to attract new jobs and investment.
Wisconsin is joining four other states in a lawsuit alleging price fixing by some makers of LCD computer monitors.
The lawsuit alleges that the defendant companies conspired to prevent competition and to increase prices for the most common form of LCD panel.
Wisconsin’s antitrust laws allow civil penalties of up to $100,000 per corporate violation and provide for damages up to three times the amount lost due to the unlawful conduct.
