breaking news
As per usual during a typical training camp week, the Packer players did not have to practice today. The midweek day off is just another example of a smarter approach to training camp. The players will meet, look at tape, start talking about the Browns, etc. but a day away from the rough stuff will pay dividends when they hit the field again. They'll be focused on improving, not just surviving.
The team will start working on Cleveland stuff tomorrow (if you're at practice and you see a coach holding cards up in the huddle, Browns offense and defense is what's on those cards. That way the scout teams know where to line up and what to do) so this brings an end to the early portion of camp where everything is Packer vs. Packer.
I thought this group has shown a real professional approach to it. You get the sense that the players realize camp is not the end in and of itself, it's a means to an end. Not a lot of ups and downs, just a steady workman-like approach practice in and practice out. It's not about being the best team in August, it's about laying the foundation to be the best team during the regular season and beyond.
Terminology Timeout: Leopard - An offensive personnel grouping with 3 wide receivers and 2 tight ends. No running backs. The Packers used it some during yesterday's practice. (One thing you'll notice about football terminology, you'll never see anything called kitten or robin. Everything has to be macho.)
