Aaron Rodgers wins NFL Most Valuable Player Award

By: Nick Goddard
Updated: February 4, 2012

Aaron Rodgers has become the fifth Green Bay Packer in history to win the NFL MVP Award, it was announced on Saturday night.

Rodgers was presented the award at the first ever "NFL Honors" ceremony, which took place in Indianapolis, where Super Bowl XLVI will be played Sunday.

While leading the Packers to a 15-1 record in the 2011 regular season, Rodgers had one of the greatest statistical campaigns by a quarterback in NFL history.  He threw for 4,643 yards and 45 touchdowns with just 6 interceptions, and set a new NFL record with a passer rating of 122.5.

The other Packers who have won the MVP award are Paul Hornung (1961), Jim Taylor (1962), Bart Starr (1966), and Brett Favre (1995, 1996, and 1997.)
