Gamblers tie Record with 45th Regular Season Victory

GREEN BAY (gamblershockey.com) - The Gamblers have tied the franchise record with their 45th regular season win 6-1 over the Muskegon Lumberjacks Sunday afternoon at the Resch Center.

Matthew Weis scored a couple of goals for the Gamblers scoring in the first and third periods. The Ohio State recruit scored his 6th goal this season.

Sam Herr added to another incredible weekend scoring his 4th goal in 3 games with a great feed by Kyle Novak at the 18:39 mark. The Notre Dame recruit scored his 28th goal of the season.

Alex Kile scored his 2nd goal in the last two games and answering a goal by Muskegon just 15 seconds after the Lumberjacks scored. The Michigan recruit scored his 17th goal overall.

Also scoring for the Gamblers was Grigory Dikushin and Jordan Schmaltz. Dikushin scored his 5th goal and Schmaltz scored his 10th goal this season.

After an injury to Michael Rotolo, goalie Ryan McKay stepped in the second period clinching the victory with 18 saves on 19 shots. The Miami of Ohio recruit has a record of 25-4-3.

The Gamblers have dominated this season with a record of 45-8-3. Leading the USHL in a total of 224 goals this season scoring an average of 4.07 and having an average of 2.25 goals scored against per game.

"It's a great honor, our team talks about the tradition of our organization all the time and were proud of that and to be a part of it now is really exciting," head coach Derek Lalonde, " These guys are special and they take a lot of pride in these types of things and they wanted that 45th win."

The Gamblers are home April 6th to face the Muskegon Lumberjacks and April 7th to face the Waterloo Blackhawks for the last home games of the regular season.
