Event to warn drivers to watch for workers during road work

By: Terry Kovarik
Updated: April 23, 2012

OSHKOSH (WFRV) Marc Neumeyer's and Daniel Melhorn's names are constantly remembered by Winnebago County Highway Department workers.

That's because their names are on a memorial dedicated to them at the Winnebago County Highway garage.

Melhorn and Neumeyer were killed in March 2006 while doing maintenance work along U.S. 41. This morning the memorial site will be the scene of an event marking Work Zone Awareness Week.

The event hopes to remind drivers to slow down for employees working in road and highway construction zones. Among those attended this morning's event will be Wisconsin Department of Transpiration Secretary Mark Gottlieb.
