Madison, Wis. (WFRV) -- A fallen Fond du Lac Police officer was honored in Madison on Wednesday.

Officer Craig Birkholz's name was added to the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Memorial.

He was killed in the line of duty in March of 2011, while responding to a standoff.

The monument sits just outside of the capitol building.  It is maintained by a non-profit organization to remember and honor officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
