Manitowoc, Wis. (WFRV)  Manitowoc Police are investigating a vehicle pursuit that resulted in shots being fired at a 14 year old runaway driver from Illinois.

Police received a call Tuesday morning about a reckless driver crossing the centerline, hitting the gravel on the side of the road and running numerous stop signs.

Officers located the truck near South 8^th and Franklin Streets and attempted to stop the vehicle at which time the truck accelerated rapidly and a pursuit ensued.  An officer attempted to slow down the fleeing vehicle by boxing it in with the squad car and was struck.  The truck then hit a light pole and the officer fired several shots at the vehicle.

The driver is a 14 year old runaway from Piatt County Illinois.  He was driving a truck that was reported stolen Monday night from Pearson Station, Illinois.

The suspect suffered a minor injury to an arm and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
