No Sweep for the Brewers

The Brewers have had their share of success against the Cubs this season, but once again it was Milwaukee's bullpen letting them down late in the game. Jonathan Lucroy hit a grand slam and drove in seven runs for the Brewers, but Alfonso Soriano had the last laugh with a RBI single that capped off a three-run comeback in the ninth inning for a 12-11 win at Wrigley Field Thursday afternoon. Milwaukee was down 3-0, but then went ahead 9-3, and then 11-9 going into the final inning, but that's when Francisco Rodriguez let Chicago back in the contest. Lucroy tied his career high for RBIs, while Rickie Weeks had five hits and Ryan Braun hit his NL leading 36th homer of the season. Cody Ransom also homered for Milwaukee, which had won eight straight against the Cubs. Despite the loss, the Brewers have won eight out of their last ten games and head to Miller Park to face Pittsburgh for a three game series starting Friday night.
