A year after giving up the most yards in NFL history, the Packers spent their first six draft picks on defense.

But perhaps no addition to that unit could be more impactful this season than a healthy Tramon Williams.

"Tramon would definitely go down in the category of a shutdown corner," Head Coach Mike McCarthy said recently.

But even Williams would admit he didn't play to that level a year ago.

He suffered nerve damage to his shoulder during a tackle in week one and was never the same, unable to be the physical presence that helped him attain Pro Bowl status in 2010.

Now he says he's put those problems in the past.

"I'm just feeling good," Says Williams.  "Not thinking about my shoulder or anything like that.  Got a lot of strength in it, a lot more than I had last year.  I'm just going out and playing.  I don't think about it. I don't think about hitting anybody. I don't think of none of that."

Even after recording four  interceptions and setting career-highs in tackles and passes defended last year, Williams struggled playing with his shoulder harnessed and when you ask players and coaches about him, it's almost as if he wasn't around last year.

"It's nice to have him back," says McCarthy.  "It's well-documented how he went through the season last year with the injury.  Just the one on one plays he makes particularly on the fade routes in the red zone area.  You really see his ability, his coverage ability."

While the Packers hope they have their number one corner back in top form, there is still uncertainty in the rest of the secondary especially in the sub-packages.

"I don't think we will know who it will be on that opposite side (at corner) until day one so it's been that tight," says Williams.  "There's been a lot of competition, good competition in the secondary."

As far as recovering from the injury goes, Williams is taking a "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" attitude.

"I'm refocused," says Williams.  "Just like our whole defense we are refocused, the whole team refocused.  At the end of the day it is all about winning the Super Bowl.  If you don't get that accomplished, it all fails."

If Green Bay can get back to the NFL's biggest game, the once undrafted corner's career will come full circle, playing in a Super Bowl in his home state of Louisiana.

"Dream come true obviously," Williams says with a smile when asked about the possibility.  "But it's going to be a long season to get there."
