The Packers didn't take the holiday off, they labored on Labor Day. There's no time to rest now that it's the regular season. Green Bay's now preparing for the games that count, starting with the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
With that being said, there was a different feel at practice today. After Friday's cuts there were less bodies so players got in more reps, more conditioning. And there are no fans in the stands anymore so it's up to the players to bring the intensity every day.
"You've just spent five to six weeks on Nitschke Field in front of a crowd, a very healthy crowd every single day, then you go behind the tarps on Hinkle Field, so it's a totally different environment", Mike McCarthy said.
Bryan Bulaga weighed in on the different atmosphere, "It was a little different today, I mean 61 guys, no fans, practice was a little bit quieter just because the fans are pretty crazy out there at training camp".
"It was weirder just not seeing all the people that were here" BJ Raji said. "Walk through in the gym today and you look around and you're like where's every at? Just a part of the business, life goes on and we have to shift our focus to San Fran.
Bulaga mentioned 61 players. That's the 53 active roster guys plus the eight player practice squad. The Packers released the practice squad roster today: WR Diondre Borel, TE Brandon Bostick, QB BJ Coleman, T Andrew Datko, DE Lawrence Guy, G/T Chris Scott, RB Marc Tyler and G Greg Van Roten.
The only player picked up outside of the franchise is offensive lineman Chris Scott, who was with the Pittsburgh Steelers during camp. Scott has experience all along the line -- today he took snaps at left guard The Packers kept seven o-linemen on the active roster, with an additional three on the practice squad.
