The Brewers couldn't keep the momentum going in Miami today. A Carlos Gomez two-run home run put the Brewers up 2-0 in the second inning, but then pitcher Mike Fiers ran into trouble in the 4th. Fiers gave up six runs, four earned before being pulled and Milwaukee wouldn't have enough juice to overcome the deficit.
The Marlins won game one of the four game series, 7-3. Fiers falls to 8-7 on the season. "I get mad at myself about many things but I put it behind me and go after the next hitter," he said in the locker room after the game. Those were big play that I need to make and I didn't, so it just added to the bad inning. I feel bad because we are in this race and, to come out here today and not get it done is kind of, it hurts."
First pitch of game two of the series, tomorrow night in Miami, is set for 6:10.
