CASCADE, Wis. (WFRV) Tough Mudder, an extreme obstacle course filled with fire, freezing water and 10,000 volts of electricity, is about to hit Sheboygan County.
Crews have been working in the tiny village of Cascade for the last two weeks. This weekend, 22,000 participants will run the course. Tough Mudder has grown in popularity in the last three years. Organizers say this event will give a major economic boost to the county. "We've done studies in the past that estimate between $3 million and $5 million for one of our events. This being our second biggest ever, hopefully it will be a little higher than that," says Director of Special Operations Hunter Manchak.
Saturday is sold out, but tickets are still available for participants. Those who complete the course get bragging rights, a headband and a beer.
