Jennifer Martinez moved her family to Mexico earlier this year to be with her husband who was deported for being in the country illegally.
But she had to move back after she and her kids got extremely sick.
Martinez says she will do what she can to help families that are facing the same problems that she is.
"We gave it our all, there are no jobs, we went days without water and without lights."
Jennifer Martinez is talking about the short two months she lived in Mexico with her husband Jaime Martinez and their children.
Conditions were so horrible that she had to return to Manitowoc with her four American- born children.
Says Martinez, "We were in a small town of about 200 people. There were people getting killed by drug dealers, it's dangerous. The education is not good, and we were sick all the time. My kids came back with e-coli and infections."
Since returning, Jennifer has found a job at a factory and is continuing to fight a system that will no longer allow her husband to live with them in America.
Local Five's Donald Robinson has the story.
