GREEN BAY, WIS. (WFRV) - It was an extra special delivery for students at Washington Middle School Friday. Ninety athletes on the soccer and cross country teams now get to start their seasons in style thanks to Titletown Feet.

"Our group basically provides athletic footwear for under-privileged students in the Green Bay area," said group member Elisia Lewis.

Members of Titletown Feet spent the entire summer collecting donations to make the event possible. Employees from Rogan's Shoes helped to fit each kid with their new kicks.

"Even though this might sound like a simple thing to some people, a pair of shoes," explained Lewis. "We know that at the middle school age, a new pair of athletic shoes and the meaning behind it could really change some of these students lives."

"A lot of our kids don't have some of the same opportunities that others do," said Athletic Director Travis Lipsh. "It made me thankful there are organizations in this community that care about giving back, that care about our kids. These kids are our future."

The students were eager to pick out their new shoes, and thankful to those who made it possible.

"I think it's great because I needed new soccer shoes," 8th grade soccer player Damien Ortega said.

"That's pretty nice for them to do that, I really thank them," 8th grade soccer player Oscar Barrientos said.

Titletown Feet members hope to keep the program going. Athletes from Franklin Middle School will get their own special delivery on Monday.
