Wisconsin squeaked past FCS opponent Northern Iowa in week one. Badgers Head Coach Bret Bielema said after the game it was the best thing that could have happened to them, they essentially realized they weren't invincible and Bielema vowed his team would make a big jump from week one to week two. That didn't happen.
Wisconsin didn't share video with Saturday's PAC 12 opponent because Oregon State had no tape to share with them (the Beavers season opener against Nicholls State was canceled due to Hurricane Isaac). That only fueled Oregon State - they didn't need film to stop Montee Ball and Wisconsin's ground game. The Heisman hopeful was held to 61 yards today. After several plays resulting in loss of yards, the Badgers recorded just 35 total yards rushing.
To add insult to injury, Jared Abbrederis left the game in the second quarter after being sandwiched in between two defenders. He was later taken to the hospital.
Oregon State scored the first touchdown of the game on the first drive of the third quarter. Sean Mannion connected with Brandin Cooks for the 20-yard score to give the Beavers the 10-0 lead.
After an interception and a fumble, Wisconsin quarterback Danny O'Brien finally tossed a touchdown late in the game, but it wouldn't be enough. Oregon State held on to win 10-7.
