APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) Tuesday's Appleton Police 9/11 Challenge ceremony is symbolic of the sacrifice and effort New York City firefighters gave on 9-11. This is the second year for this challenge.
Officers will climb 23 stairs at the Banta Bowl and they'll do that 110 times. Those numbers are significant. 23 New York City Police officers died on September 11th. And there were 110 floors inside the World Trade Center.
Last year firefighters and police officers wore their full gear during this run. They'll climb past the pictures and profiles of the NYPD officers who died.
