Green Bay's Run Game Must Improve

It's no secret the Packers' bread and butter is their run game, but mixing it up to keep the defense honest is vital. "We want to have some assemblance of balance in our offense we don't want to become one dimensional, and the defense has an opportunity to play more downhill on us then we do on them", Mike McCarthy said.
Aaron Rodgers was the team's leading rusher against the 49ers. Cedric Benson, the only running back to touch the ball recorded just 18 yards on nine carries. "It's always good to hear them putting a little extra pressure on you. You want to get the job done and you know got a little extra motivation to do it", Benson said.
Some of the responsibility falls on the offensive line, "You know make sure our run fits are solid", Jeff Saturday said. "That everyone's seeing the same, the back's seeing the hole the same way the line's seeing it. Where linebackers are going to show up or safeties over the top. Just making sure that we're all consistent. From what we learned last Sunday we gotta stay with it, we gotta be effective. We need to average three and a half at least on a carry and keep ahead the chains."
O-lineman, Bryan Bulaga also weighed in, "We need to be able to run the football when our numbers called, bottom line. Enough said about it, we just can't throw the ball every down that's when defensive ends pin their ears back and rush the passer, that makes it difficult for everybody when everyone knows what youre going to do on every down so we need to be able to run the football effectively especially when our numbers called and they're relying on us to four yards, five yards or a yard or two, whatever it is."
